Resources for the Single Parent

When I began this blog, I imagined the blogosphere as a giant universe and I was floating around in my little tin can. I started posting as a way of sending out signals into the vast universe: “Hello? Anyone I can relate to out there?”

I often felt like the Little Prince visiting one planet (blog genre) after another. Eventually, I figured maybe I just needed my own little planet.

Single moms are vastly underrepresented in everything and the blogosphere shows that. Since I began this blog, I feel it’s become a very single mom friendly sort of place. My readers aren’t all single moms, but they’re supportive people and that’s what we all look for. Because I want to encourage this type of community, I’ve begun collecting resources of various types that might be helpful to other single moms.

This includes a collection of my favorite Single Mom posts to have appeared on this blog, mostly because of the support that came forth from the community.

It also includes what I hope will one day become the most comprehensive collection of single mom blogs.

Lastly, it includes your more typical types of resources– articles, books, and music I found helpful.

If you have anything you’d like to submit to my collection of resources, I’d love to check it out. Please contact me!

I’ve been reading your blog for a while, but today was my first time commenting. I don’t have any children yet, but was raised by an awesome single mom. I now realize how hard this was for her, but we were lucky, as you are, to be surrounded by lots of family and friends and I had a great childhood. I remember her saying “We might not be rich in money, but we’re rich in love.” I loved that.

Thank you for sharing your life, and putting together resources and links to help single moms out there.

Thank you for taking the time to comment and to do so in such a supportive and sweet way. I love to hear from grown-up children of single moms who are pleased with their childhoods and appreciative of their families. Your mom’s saying is one worthy of becoming wall art.
